The Oxygen Advantage® begins with one essential principle: nasal breathing.

Breathing through the nose activates nitric oxide, a natural gas that widens airways and blood vessels, boosts oxygen uptake, and steadies the nervous system.

From this foundation, the method becomes a complete, practical system—uniting the science of breathing with real-world application across Body, Sport, and Mind. Each pillar targets a specific dimension of health and performance, together forming a living system for balance and control.

How it works?

Body: Foundations of Functional Breathing..

The Body pillar focuses on restoring natural, efficient breathing patterns that allow physiology to thrive. By re-establishing balance through nasal, diaphragmatic breathing, the body becomes more efficient at producing energy, maintaining posture, and recovering during rest.

Mind: Breathing for Focus, Calm, and Resilience..

Your breath is the bridge between body and mind. This pillar teaches how to use breathing for calm, clarity, and resilience. Through scientifically grounded breathing practice, blood flow and oxygen delivery to the brain increase while the regions associated with rumination, worry, and overthinking become quieter.

Sport: Breathing for Performance and Recovery..

This pillar applies functional breathing to movement and performance. Whether it's jogging a 5k, training for an ultra-marathon, or pushing limits in the gym, these techniques help build control, stamina, and recovery.

Through altitude-simulation and controlled-stressor practices (IHHT), the body is challenged to adapt—improving oxygen efficiency, delaying fatigue, and strengthening resilience. The result is not just better performance, but the ability to stay calm, composed, and efficient under pressure.

What does an individual training program look like?

Preparation…

Before the intake session, you will receive a couple of questionnaires and we will have brief meeting to evaluate your current health status and symptoms linked to not optimal functional breathing or breathing issues appearing in stress and/or performance situations.

Intake & Training Start…

During the intake session, based on the questionnaires and our discussion, we identify your personal objective(s) for the training. We start the training program.

Training in & out of sessions…

With respect to your status and objective, I establish your personal training program, for our sessions and your individual training out of sessions. Depending on observations, status and progress I adapt these accordingly during the training sessions.

The intake session with the starting Training session is followed by 4 Breath Training sessions, specifically adapted to you, during which we train a set of specific exercises together. I give you further background information on the physical functioning of breathing, the effects of functional breathing along with its connection to your neurophysiology.

In addition, you receive your individual breath training program to train on your own in between sessions.

Easy integration in your everyday life…

The aim of the training is to support you through the training to shift from your current breathing to its natural, efficient and supportive way.

Hence, you can integrate the training easily in your everyday life, without the need to set specific time a part each day for the majority of exercises for functional breathing training.

The training itself becomes right away a moment to relax, recuperate and/or regain focus.

Moving into performance, breathing training exercises can be integrated into your movement, sport and/or physical preparation training.

Safe training to enhance your health, well-being and ability to perform…

The training is safe and does not push into zones of risk and is always adapted to each person’s individual status.

For people with cardiovascular issues or when pregnant, the training cannot be offered.

Individual Training Program Structure.

  • 1 preparation session for intake, individual,online/in presence (approx.15-30minutes)
  • 1 intake & Training Start session, individual, online/in presence (60 minutes)
  • 4 Training sessions, individual, online/in presence (60 minutes)
  • Individual Training Program to train in-between sessions, adapted with respect to your status, objective and training progress
  • Material, depending on need: audio files, documentation, OA® App

The program runs over approx.4-5 weeks, with ideally one to two sessions in week 1, and one session over the following three to 4 weeks.
