The first Life Kinetik session I participated in a few years ago left quite its mark…and still makes me smile.
At first I was completely baffled.
Standing there, looking at the balls in my hands, not being able to throw them in combination with simple movements as explained by the instructor. Somehow, my brain and body seemed to have lost connection. « What the… !?! »
I was somewhat relieved to hear equally frustrated exclamations, but also quite some laughter, from the rest of the group.
The posed challenges required new connections in my brain, new roads so to speak, as I solicited new skills and abilities to solve the tasks. Roads which had not been used much so far or were not even existing yet and needed to be build.
This did not always work out in the way I expected from myself, leading to diverse reactions.
Complete consternation. Frustration. Balls flying everywhere. Left and right are what side again ? Laughter. Ambition. Get yourself together ! Concentrate ! Playfulness. Competitiveness. My coordination is all over the place. Just as my memory. Joy. The satisfaction of getting the hang of it.
Handling these reactions became for me part of the training. Letting go of very stern expectations and getting back into a state of openness and presence. In other words: to get back into the joy of learning, exploring and experimenting in different ways and different intensities these combinations of movement, perception and cognitive tasks.
Finally, towards the end of the session, getting into play mode, with its joyful relish of the next challenge.
‘I don’t know? No problem, I learn. Let’s see how this works.’ Smile.
‘It takes longer for me to grasp? I loose concentration, get distracted? That’s ok. Get back to it and start from where I am now.’
So that towards the end of the session, I was eagerly waiting for the next variation on each exercise. Without fear, with some bouts of frustration but returning quickly to exploring to solve the task. With a smile.
New challenge please !

Along the series of exercises I did let go of the « I have to know and perform well straight away » attitude and shifted into an active yet calm state to analyse, explore, experiment and learn.
Giving myself the space and time in the way I need to really understand and learn combining on different levels my experience of the skills required. To make it my own.
The starting point of any performance.
I was hooked.
So, what is Life Kinetik?
Life Kinetik is a scientifically based and confirmed training that combines perception tasks with cognitive challenges and unusual, fun movement with the aim to spur your brain cells to make new connections.
The brain increases and widens its road network, so to speak, of possibilities and hence abilities through new connections generated between brain cells through combined activation of different brain areas in the Life Kinetik training.
Improving not just cognitive performance but also perception, speed of action, coordination & motor skills. Along with improved error rate and problem solving skills, just as the ability to concentrate and to recover.
Training your brain and meeting yourself.
All the while allowing to get face to face with not always helpful own approaches to learning and performance, own expectations and beliefs about ourselves and what learning and performing is or should be.
There is nothing at stake, and yet the reactions are the same as if.
The training and the setting.
It is why it was obvious for me that Life Kinetik has to be an inherent part to my individual coaching offer.
